"We are the Accumulation of the Dreams of Generations." - Stephen Robert Kuta

This is a Second Blog Post Dedicated to Old Restored and Colorized Photographs on my Grandmother's Side of the Family

I'm going to continued on with another blog post...this blog post...which includes more photos of another set of 2nd Great Grandparents. It's truly amazing to me that I have not only been able to get my hands on photos of one set of 2nd Great Grandparents, but photos of two sets of 2nd Great Grandparents. They are the Grandparents of my Grandma Matilda Lovcik again, but this time instead of her Father's parents, here are her Mother's Parents, Frantisek Rumreich and Maria Anna Schnedar.

Below, I have updated the same chart I used last time with me at the bottom to show the relationship, but this time putting in the parents of my Great Grandmother instead of my Great Grandfather. The original photo was of really low resolution and just a crappy photo in general, but thanks again to photo restoration software, I was able to restore and colorize, so we can see the people better. Not every photo works well to be restored, and at times, it takes several attempts. But, surprisingly, as bad as the original photo was...which is also posted below...the software worked miracles on this photo the first try. I felt this to be good luck because it doesn't always work out this way with the end result being such a great photo...especially on the first try, and especially with such a low resolution and lousy photo.

As about everyone is aware, I have been doing this same type of genealogical research on my Mother's Italian side of the family. There have been several times that myself, and my relatives in Italy, have been stumped by something we have come across, and oddly, it has usually been me, the one who speaks Italian the poorest, who has figured out whatever the mystery was. So we have a joke that our ancestors were whispering in my ear every time this has occurred.

When this photo turned out perfect the first time I thought..."are my Czech ancestors also whispering in my ear?" Or more accurately, manipulating my photo software? Hey! Don't underestimate it. Anything is possible. Especially if you are a spirit. Nobody really knows what they can do, but whatever it is, I hope they continue on. They can whisper in my ear all they want. In fact, I would really appreciate if they would whisper lottery numbers in my ear. Come on ancestors!

My Great Grandmother above, Aloisie Rumreich (but known as Louise once she came to this country) was one of 9 children. Below is the original photo of her family along side the restored and colorized photo. I don't know exactly when this family photo was taken, but I have heard that it was in the 1890's, which looks about right.

My Great Grandma is standing in the back row 1st person on the left, and she was born in 1880, and she looks like she was maybe 13 or 14, so this would put the photo around 1893 or 1894. And the youngest boy in the front was born in 1890, and he looks to be about 3 years old, so 1893 seems to be a pretty good guess as to when this photo was taken.

If you click on a photo, a larger version will appear, which is a bit easier to see.

And here is the same restored photo again, but this time with everyone labeled.

And lastly, here's the same photo without the labels in case anyone wants to save a copy.
